Hopefully, by the time you are reading this, you have set your clocks ahead by 1 hour, as it was supposed to happen at 2:00am. Thank goodness for cell phones and nuclear clocks that now do this automatically. In my 50 years, I have never found that Daylight Savings Time saved me any time! In fact, my days tend to entail more activities between May and November. Evening activities that I turn down when it’s dark at 5pm, I accept when it doesn’t get dark until 8:45pm. I spend more time outside working on my yard, I’ll plant my container garden in a few weeks, and when my potato vines are growing, I go outside to water them twice per day!
Since turning 50 in January, I think my to-do list has become more urgent. As I wrote a few weeks ago there were things that I thought needed to be done to our home in 2021 and now we are approaching 5 years! Well, those things have become urgent and 2 of the big projects have been completed. I’ve returned to real estate and it’s urgent that I start working with clients! In December I decided that I should republish my first 4 novels. Republishing didn’t have to involve reading them and editing them again for the 198th time, but that is what I did. I have had new covers made. I was sent the files from the original publisher, but they were RTF files that I have to manipulate in MS Word. It’s been a struggle. I decided on Friday evening that I could spend time trying to make them absolutely perfect or I could republish the books. Good Girl will be published without page numbers…I just cannot get them to work! Anyway, Jesus told us in John 9:4-5, “As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. 5While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” We are about to experience longer days for the next few months, which means more time to do the work God has for us to do. We have only a brief time on this earth to do His will. Doing His will should be an urgent matter for us all. I have been asked several times in 2026 if I plan to host another writer’s workshop, and if I plan to resume hosting Bible study at my home. Yes, to both! Once I finish with these books, yes, absolutely! I can’t find it verbatim in Scripture, but we know the saying, “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop.” I wish I could be idle - God keeps me lined up with things to do! Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Revelation 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. What are you going to do with your longer days? What is God telling you to do? He is giving you the daylight hours to do His will. Soon, it will be night and you will not be able to work. I’ve written several posts about soon. “Soon” carries urgency, but it’s also an ambiguous time period. It’s ambiguity, to me, makes it more urgent! Soon could be tonight, tomorrow, or 20 years from now! We like to think there’s plenty of time, but Scripture has stated “Soon” for hundreds of years! While we don’t know when soon is, we know soon is closer now than it was then, right! Get it together! Prayerfully, get your priorities in line! Be obedient! Read and study the Word of God! There could be someone you’ve been assigned to lead to salvation - you can’t sleep on that! Get to it! Amen! Thank you for reading! Please share! Kim
