Ecclesiastes 3:1
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. As we approach the unofficial end of summer known as Labor Day, let's think about the seasons of our lives. The first change of season I can recall actually feeling anxious about occurred in 2007. Moments after my second child was born, the doctor performed, at my request, a tubal ligation. It wasn't menopause, but at 31, my childbearing years were over. I was worried that I would experience regret, but I haven't. There have been times, with my husband, that we briefly pondered what it would be like to have another child. I think it is our prayer that the Lord bless us with healthy grandchildren, not children. We do not know what each day holds for us, let alone each season. In 2007, I pondered the end of the child-bearing season, but I had no idea that in 2010 I would become an aunt to a nephew in my home! It truly was like new motherhood all over again, the nesting instinct kicked in. I painted the bedroom and bathroom, bought new linens, rearranged closets, cleaned! I was about to have a 16 year-old baby boy! In 2012, my marriage ended and I prepared to be alone for the rest of my days. If there was a Girls' Night, I was THERE! One evening, at Revival, the Holy Spirit spoke to me, "Your husband is a minister." 👀 It wasn't long before I met Troy Massey. After texting for a few weeks, it was in our first phone conversation that I found out that he, indeed, is a licensed and ordained minister. We married in 2015. Together, we have 8 children, if you count my nephew--and we have 2 precious grandchildren. Again, I expected one thing of the season and the Lord had something better! I am beginning my 20th year as a professional educator. I don't know the future, but it feels like a new season is on the horizon. I taught high school science for 16 years. Standing in front of teens was natural for me, but to stand in front of adults was uncomfortable. In 2014, I was blessed to become the Science Instructional Specialist for my local school district. My job includes offering professional development to teachers--adults! I've become very comfortable speaking in front of adults. My writing began with four novels. My latest three books have been a children's book and two Christian self-help guides. The next book, which will be available October 2017, will be a devotional. Turn North. Seasons change. People change. If we pray without ceasing and study the Word of God, He is faithful and will show us His glory during every season of our lives. Romans 8:28 NIV And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
