I predict that home sales will rise once this period of quarantine ends. We will have done all of the little things our homes need and we will be tired of looking at it, and in the market for a new home. These are unprecedented times. Stay-At-Home orders from the governor - never heard of such. I was listening to NPR as the number of Covid-19 infections and deaths between NC and SC were compared. SC is greatly ahead of NC. They said apparently South Carolinian's are not as disciplined as North Carolinians in heeding the orders and warnings. I have been practicing greater discipline this past week - I only go out if necessary. What are you doing to pass the time at home?
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,
for those who are called according to his purpose.

I believe the Lord knew this quarantine would be particularly difficult for me, thus He gave me an extra incentive to stay at home. I woke on the morning of March 16 with a fever. I was weak and drained. I thought I had Coronavirus. I started retracing my steps in my mind, trying to think of where I had been to contract this disease. During one of my brief bursts of energy, I called the hospital to ask how I could be tested for Coronavirus. They gave me an 800 number to contact SCDHEC. I called, but the recording said that line was only available Monday-Friday from 8am- 5pm. Wow, I guess the goal was to discourage South Carolinians from getting sick on the weekend. On Monday I was able to speak with someone who gave me a website -our local hospital's website- for a virtual ER visit. I did the virtual visit and was told it was not Coronavirus, nor flu, just some virus. Take Ibuprofen and Tylenol for the fever. On Tuesday evening, when I was no better, my husband after multiple transfers and holds got someone on the phone from DHEC. They went through a whole symptom check, but said in order to be tested for Coronavirus, I would need to have a negative flu test. On Wednesday morning, my husband took me to urgent care for a flu test. It was negative for both Influenza A and B. The doctor said, that before we did a Coronavirus test, she had another suspicion based on my symptoms - pneumonia. The chest x-ray was positive. Bacterial pneumonia. I was prescribed 10 days of antibiotic.
I am a rather active individual, I am social, I plan events, and generally keep a full calendar. Without my own sickness, which is highly unusual, this quarantine would have been extraordinarily difficult for me. The doctor said, my immune system could have been fighting this pneumonia for a month or more, but when it realized it couldn't win, the fever began. Was it a coincidence that it happened right at the start of a quarantine for a virus? I don't think so, I think God knows how much I enjoy my work, and He knew how difficult being still would be for me, and He strategically changed my routine with pneumonia. (I also think He has a sense of humor - with the timing, I sure thought it was Coronavirus.) |
