It is now the sixth week of summer, and I had one sure goal - to have my carpet professionally cleaned. I haven’t scheduled with a cleaner, but I have noted some recommendations. I even had the money set aside. The problem is, my house is not clean. I can’t have someone come in to clean carpet and there are still socks on the floor, dust on the shelves, and who knows what’s under the beds! I’ve got to clean up! But I work, and the boys are here and they don’t even see the things that frustrate me. And then the air conditioner went out, so there went the money for the carpet cleaning. And the house still isn’t clean. And it’s six weeks into summer. I have a friend who has a whole list of things she is going to do after she loses weight - we talked about it over lunch. I know people who are planning to buy a house after they save up enough money - they are probably up to $200 now! I have even heard people say that they were planning to get saved after they got their life together. This is the scary one. How long does it take for someone to get his life together? And what exactly does that mean? I have heard it said in the context that they wanted to be free from sin before giving their life over to God. Impossible. All have sinned, and all will continue to sin, and will never be worthy of the glory of God.[A] Sin can be in word, thought, or deed. You are awesome if you can last one hour, awake, without sin. It is not possible for a human to fix his own life, and God knows this, so He makes salvation very simple and accessible to all. We can’t even begin to fix our lives without Him. In fact, the longer we live, without Him, the worse our lives become. I need to schedule the carpet cleaning and make that my deadline to make miracles happen in this house. If I don’t, my frustration will grow, and my carpet will still be dirty at Christmas. If you, or someone you know, is trying to fix his life in order to be saved, stop right now. The Creator of the universe is waiting for you to decide to stop trying to fix your own life, and surrender to Him, so He can work in your life. Your life will never be fixed otherwise. If that doesn’t motivate you, think of all of the news stories, just this week, about people who lost their lives in various ways. Those people did not plan for this to be their end. None of us knows the day or the hour at which we will expire. We cannot plan for death, but we can plan for eternity. Studies show that more people believe in heaven than believe in hell. The Bible tells us that both exist.[B] It’s not the choices we make while living that determine our eternity, but the choice we make. We must choose to believe that we are sinners in need of a savior. We must choose to believe that God sent His Son Jesus Christ to live on earth, as a man, then to suffer and die on the cross, although He did not sin, but as punishment for our sins. Then, as proof of His amazing power, on the third day, He was raised from the dead. If you choose to believe those things, then you will are saved.[C] At which point, you can read your Bible, choose a Bible-based church to join, and begin to trust God to help your sort out the issues in your life. You will never be without sin. Everywhere you go sin will be right there, crouching at your door.[D] With God in your life, however, you will be more aware and ready to fight against temptation. What are you waiting for? Anyone who desires more information, or a conversation about this, just let me know, I will be glad to chat. Email me at [email protected]. AMEN! Pass this along to someone who needs to know about salvation. Thank you for reading - have a blessed week. Kim [A] Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. [B] Matthew 13:50 and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. [C] John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. [D] Genesis 4:7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it. Copyright 2019 Kimberly Griffith Massey
